We’ll pick you up from your hotel heading to Chilca a small town at 4300 m.a.s.l. from there star the hike up to the Rainbow Mountain.
During the hike, you will enjoy amazing views of the Andes landscape and wildlife. Vicuñas are considered to be the Andean camel and here you will see them in their natural habitat.
Vicuñas are in the same family as llamas, though are much smaller and they have the most expensive wool in the world.
Once we arrive at the top we’ll hike to the highest point where we all could see the “Rainbow Mountain”. It’s like the effect to see various mountains of different colors from afar.
You will have enough time to take photos and relax with some hot drinks we’ll give you. All the mountains that surround this area are red and in front of you the great Ausangate Glacier Peak part of the Cordillera Vilcanota Range. It is the tallest mountain of Cusco 6384 m.a.s.l.
Our guides, they are really knowledgeable and will tell you the magic behind the colors of the mountain as well as stories from the Andes. After that, we’ll start the 2 hours descent to a special spot, where our chef has prepared a delicious and fresh lunch.
After this food, you can visit some of the local family’s houses. You can experience the lifestyle of these people who still practice the ancient traditions of the Incas. They still speak Quechua, practicing their earth-based religion and, the agriculture – honoring the mountain spirits and sun to ensure that their crops and herds flourish – as well as weaving the textiles that you will find all over Peru.
Finishing our rainbow mountain tour, we will return to Chillca village and take our private transport back to Cusco and to your hotel, arriving around 19:00 hrs approx.
