Total distance to be covered: 12km or 7mi. (5 to 6 hours more or less).
Our private bus service will pick you up from your hotel within Cusco city centre between 4:00 and 4:30 am. At this time of the morning will be heading to Piskacucho known as kilometer 82 where the Inca Trail 5 days starts.
During our way to Piskacucho we will stop in Ollantaytambo (6:30-7am) to get a breakfast (not included) and get energise for the hours and to come ahead.
Upon arrival at kilometer 82 (8:30am), we will get organize ourselves apply sunscreen, insect repellent and prepare our entrance tickets, passports and (if paying a student rate) the student card at the trail’s first control point.
We will start the trail at 2,720m/8,923ft above sea level and cross the Vilcanota River by following its route to the right. Most of the trail on this day will be done on a flat terrain so it will relatively easy for you to do the trail without much physical effort. During the 5 day Inca Trail, you will have a great views of the Inca site fortress 'Huilca Raccay' and another one called 'Patallacta'.
Also you will notice the Urubamba mountain range that divides the jungle, the Andes and the beautiful snow-capped peak of 'W'akay Willca' at 5,860m/19,225ft above sea level, known in books as Veronica.
At the end of our trek we will set up our first campsite and pass the night here which is not far from the small village of Wayllabamba at 3, 000m/9, 842 ft above sea level.
Temperatures at night are around 5ºC (depending on the month).
